If There Is Time....

For the time that remains in class, try out the Text Styles options for your theme in the Home Page of your one page web site.  Content at this point is not important.

Things To Do Before The Next Class

As mentioned earlier, there are tasks for you to complete before we meet again in 2 days.  The fact of the matter is, the more effort you put into learning FrontPage in the beginning, the more likely the skills you develop in class will stick with you later.  Here is your homework.

  • Take a look at several of the student created web sites for ideas on design, structure, organization, and content.

  • Install FrontPage on your personal computer.  The 25 digit CD key is on the label.  You will need to activate your copy of FrontPage.  Usually you will get a pop-up window at the end of the installation reminding you to do this.  You will need to be connected to the Internet.  If you don't see the pop up, you can activate by clicking on Help, Activate product...

  • Change the Folder Options settings in Windows Explorer, as described in Computer Settings.

  • Gather the files, pictures, and other materials you will need to complete your site.  They include:

    • Company logo

    • Any existing marketing materials, letters, flyers, brochures, etc., to help you develop the written content of your site.  If you can bring them as computer files on a CD, USB memory stick, or floppy disk, so much the better.

    • Any digital pictures of your business, products, completed jobs, etc.

  • Read the following pages:

  • Spend some time laying out your web site on paper, including pages you want to create for your site, and content you will add to each page.

Extra Credit

Go back through the Day One materials, and start another One Page Web Site for the sake of the practice.  If you have time to play, do a bunch of them.  Don't worry about getting them right, and you can delete the whole practice site from My Documents, My Webs Sites when you are done.  The more often you try work through the process, the stronger your skills will become.
