Hands on Practice - Adding More Pages
Now that you have started your Home page, we are going to add the following
pages
|
To Add A New Page
Adding a page is a three step
process:
-
Create a new page.
-
Save the page by giving it a
filename and Page Title.
-
Adding the page to the
hierarchical structure of the web site.
|
|
Create
A New Page
-
Go to FILE, New.
The New Task Pane should appear on the right.
-
Select
Blank Page.
-
Or you may simply click on the
New Page icon
on the Standard Toolbar.
-
The new page will open and look like the illustration below.
Even though the page is open and the tab says new_page_1,
since the page has not been named and saved, it will not show up in
the Folder List yet.
-
You may close the Layout Tables and Cells Task Pane by
click on the X in the corner, as we will not be using this
feature in this class. If you are interested in using this
design method, there is a good article available on-line from
Microsoft. The link is in the
Appendix.

|
 |
|
Save and Name the Page
-
Use the
File, Save As command to
name the new page AboutUs.htm.
-
Click on the Change
title... button.
-
Type About Us into the
Set Page Title dialog box and click on OK.
This text will appear inside the Page Banner in your
page header.
-
Click on the Save
button.
-
You will see the new page named
AboutUs.htm appear in the folder list. The name on the tab
will also change.
|
|
 |
Add Page to Web Site
- Click on the Web Site
tab at the top of the design window.
- Click on the
AboutUs.htm file to highlight it.
- Click, hold, and drag the
file into the Navigation View in the main viewing
area. A dashed linking line will appear and the About Us page
will attach below the home page.
Tip:
You can change the banner text in the Navigation View by
right clicking inside the banner window on the page icon and overtyping
the highlighted text. |
