Your Own Hyperlinks

You can use standard hyperlinks in place of the Link Bars if you prefer, either in the body copy or in the shared border area.  Creating a list of hyperlinks is an easy way to create some instant navigation.  The Hyperlink icon looks like a globe with a chain below it.

Creating a Hyperlink in the text body

As with all things Microsoft, if there is a way to do anything, there are probably two or three more.  Here's how to create a hyperlink.

  • The first step is to select and highlight the words or graphics you want to use for a hyperlink.

  • Next, open the Hyperlink dialog using one of the methods below.  I find right clicking for the context menu to be quicker than the other two methods.

  •  From the Insert Menu

  • From the Hyperlink Icon on the tool bar.

  • By selecting and right clicking on the desired text or graphic and selecting Hyperlink from the context menu.

Creating a Hyperlink from a Picture or Graphic

The process is identical, just select your picture so the sizing handles show (we will learn about these in another lesson), and create a hyperlink using any of the methods above.
