Bullets
Creating a list of bullet points
is quite easy in FrontPage.
-
Place
your insertion point
where you want the list to appear on your page
-
Click on the
Bullets icon on the Formatting toolbar. This will
insert a bullet at the insertion point.
-
Pressing the
Enter key will end the line and create a new bullet.
|
|

-
For
more options, select Format, Bullets or Numbering from
the menu bar.
-
The
Bullets and Numbering dialog will open.
-
Options include Use pictures from the current theme,
or clicking Browse to select a picture from other
themes, or a bullet graphic that you create using a graphics
program.
-
Clicking on the Style button will open the modify
style dialog, and clicking on the Format button allows
you to make other changes. You won't probably use this feature
much.
-
Clicking on Enable Collapsible Outlines, and
Initially Collapsed allows you to create outlines where the
content collapses. See the examples below. I used to use
this feature quite a bit, but I have moved away from it, because I
found a lot of people were confused by it, even in the face of
explicit instructions.
-
You
can also copy and paste an existing list from Word or Excel,
although it will not be editable in FrontPage.

You
use the Increase Indent and Decrease Indent
buttons to remove a bullet from a section of text, or to add an indented
bullet section.
Hands on Exercise
-
Create a New Page, save it as practice.htm, and
change the title to Practice Page.
-
Place your insertion point at the top of the main body area of the
page.
-
Click on the Bullets icon. This will place the
first bullet on your page. Type the word January and
click Enter.
-
At
the second bullet type February and continue through June.
You should have 6 bullet points.
-
Click on the Enter key to create bullet point 7.
-
Click on the Increase Indent button once. The
button disappears and the insertion point is indented slightly.
-
Now type June is the first month of summer and popular for
vacations and weddings. You might use this feature to add a
paragraph after a bullet point.
-
Hit the Enter key again, and then Decrease
Indent. You should be looking at bullet number 8.
Type July.
-
Hit the Enter key again, and click on the
Increase Indent key twice. You should have an indented
bullet. Type Week 1. Hit Enter again and
type Week 2.
Basically, to increase the indent and create another bullet, click the
Increase Indent key twice. Clicking once creates an indented
paragraph below the bullet.
To
change the level of an existing bullet, place your insertion point
between the bullet and the start of the line, and click on Increase to
change the level to the right, and Decrease to change the level to the
left. |
