Numbered or Outline Style Lists

The process works basically the same as creating a bulleted list.

  1. Place your insertion point where you want the list to appear on your page

  2. Click on the Numbering icon on the Formatting toolbar.  This will insert the number 1 at the insertion point.

  3. Pressing the Enter key will end the line and create the next number.

Notice that I used numbers instead of bullets in this section.

  1. For more options, select Format, Bullets or Numbering from the menu bar.

  2. The Bullets and Numbering dialog will open.

  1. Options include selecting a Start at number.  This is handy when you need to break a numbered list for some reason and need to resume it later from the point you left off.  I had to do this here because the picture broke the series between 2 and 3.

  2. You can also choose among different numbering or outline styles.

  3. Using the Increase Indent buttons will create a new sub level in your outline.  The Increase and Decrease Indent buttons work the same as with Bullets.

  4. Clicking on the Style button will open the modify style dialog, and clicking on the Format button allows you to make other changes.  You won't probably use this feature much.

  5. Clicking on Enable Collapsible Outlines, and Initially Collapsed allows you to create outlines where the content collapses.

  6. You can also copy and paste an existing numbered list from Word or Excel, although it will not be editable in FrontPage.

Hands On Practice
