Providing Location Information with a Map

Lets add a map to your Contact Us page.

  • Open your Contact Us page and place your insertion point below the table we created earlier.

  • Select Insert, Web Component.

  • Select MSN Mapping Components from the left column.

  • Select Insert a map from the right column.

  • Notice that you can also insert a Link to a map.  This option will create a hyperlink that takes your visitor to the Expedia site for a map.  If you do this, be sure to edit your hyperlink to call for a new window.

  • Click on Finish.

  • Type the address of your location into the form, and click Next.

  • You will now see a preview of the map that will be inserted in your page.  You can edit your address if necessary.  You could insert the name of your business in front of the address.  Set the business name off with a comma, and hit Preview.

  • Click on Next, and then Finish in the next window.

Your map should have appeared on the Contact Us page.  Click on the map, and notice that it occupies the entire width of the page.  If you want the map to have text next to it, create a two cell table and cut and paste the map into one cell and type your text into the other cell.

Another Way to Add a Map

You can add a map from Microsoft Streets and Trips, Mapquest, Google Earth, or other sources easily enough.  Treat the map image just like a picture.

  • For Mapquest or Google Earth, create your map, then right click in the map and choose Copy, and then Paste it into your page.

  • Manage the size by right clicking and selecting picture properties.

  • Or you could choose Save Picture As, save it to your My Pictures folder, and use a photo editing application to edit the map.

The map below was copied from Mapquest and pasted into a one cell table to help keep it positioned on the page properly.
