Hands on Practice - Marquee

This is an example of a Marquee - you can scroll text across your page using this feature.

The example above is a Marquee.  You may want to use this feature to highlight or emphasize certain parts of your web site.  You can use a Marquee to announce a new product or service, or other important change to your site.

Go ahead and choose a page from your site to add a Marquee.

  • Select Insert, Web Component.

  • Select Dynamic Effects from the left column.'

  • Select Marquee from the right column.

  • Click on Finish.

  • When the Marquee Properties dialog opens, type your own text in the text box.

  • You change change the Direction.

  • You can change the Speed.

  • You can change the Behavior.

  • You can change the Size of the Marquee.

  • You can set the number of times the Marquee will Repeat.

  • You can change the Background color.

  • Clicking on the Style button, and then the Format button, will even allow you to change the font.

  • When you are done, click OK.

Go ahead and try out some different ideas. 

  • You can view the Marquee in action in the Preview screen. 

  • You can make changes to the Marquee by right clicking, and selecting Marquee Properties from the context menu.

  • You can change the size of the Marquee by clicking on it and grabbing a handle in the corners or the middle. 

  • You can move the Marquee left, center and right with the Alignment buttons.
